As my term of office as President nears an end, I would like to thank the Board of Directors for their support over the past two years. No matter how great or small the amount of time and effort each individual contributed, each in their own way made the past two years a memorable period in my life. The adverse weather during the 27th Festival and Games was a factor which determined that a great number of patrons who had already bought advance tickets decided not to attend. Who knows, perhaps the Festival will be looked upon more graciously by Mother Nature next year.
We have two very important events coming upon us shortly. First, the Burns Supper to be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010 and which promises to be one of the best we have ever had. I urge you to go to the Festival and Events link on this website for details on the highlight of the Scottish social season. I suggest you give this priority thought as it is a first come first served event, and tickets are now going fast with a limit of 150 persons with well over 100 sold already.
Most important is the Annual General Meeting of the Scottish American Society of South Florida on Sunday, February 21st, 2010 at 3 p.m. and I cannot stress the importance of all members to make the effort attend this meeting. You will be able to elect a new Board of Directors who will then elect a President for the upcoming year 2010-2011 and ensure that our Society continues to bring Scottish culture to the fore in our area.
Once again, I thank each and every member for the opportunity and honor of serving as your president for the past two years, and wish the Society every success in the years to come.
